A Few Abbreveations
Role Players often use many abbreviations that may confuse newcomers, so I'll list a few common abbreviations here.
RP: Role Play/short for Role Playing Game/aka: RPG or forum RPG/def'n/plural: RP's
RP'er: Role Player/common abbreviation/aka: RPer/plural: RP'ers
OOC: Out of context/used when someone wants to tell other RP'ers that they're talking outside of what's going on in the RP/aka: OOC "Out of character”
RP leader: the person that started the RP, and holds the first post. They are the storyteller, and should be able to sort out conflicts and plot difficulties.
RP mod: staff assigned specifically to the RP forum.
RPer/player/member: people who have joined an RP and are posting with their character.

[glow=red,2,300]RULES[/glow]
1. Keep it PG-13. Readers are 13 years of age or older. No R or "X" rated material, please. This rule is common sense. If in doubt, RP mods and other staff are always available. Have no fear in running your thoughts by them.
2. Readability. I know it might be tempting for people to use Netspeak, but please use good grammar and spelling in Role Play. It’s very annoying to read a wonderful RP and then get to a post that says "wut i 2 do simba?". It just ruins the RP. Make nice, easy-to-read posts for your fellow RP'ers and RP readers. The more mistakes, the more the reader is drawn out of the RP world you are trying to create.
4. Availability. If you know you're not going to be active in an RP, don't take the role of a main character! It will KILL that RP. Only join RP's if you're going to be active in them. That said, everyone goes on vacation, or runs into IRL trouble now and then. If this happens, a responsible RPer will PM their RP mates and write their character out of the action for an indefinite time (eg taking your character on a long walk in a secluded area.)
5. Before you use your characters in RP's, be sure to post them in the Original Characters forum and then link to your topic. (Instead of listing the character's profile in the RP). This will help keep discussions about characters out of RP and limit the OOC's.
6. Do not join Closed RP's if you are not welcome. Your post(s) will be removed. Closed RPs will have the tag [Closed] in their thread title. Look for [Open] RPs. This indicates that they are still looking for new characters. Private RPs are usually between two characters, and are always closed by default. They will have the tag [Private]
7. If you are not part of an RP, do not post in it after it has started. If you want to join, PM the RP leader (maker).
